When You’ve Already Decided

When you’ve already decided you will be a better husband, you study and do what better husbands do.

When you’ve already decided you will grow in any direction, you surround yourself and do what those who’ve grown in that direction do.

You show up at the same time, in the same way, often to step toward that reality.

You never stop to consider your current mood, your obstacles, or your circumstances. They don’t matter because when you’ve already decided you will grow—you do.

When you’ve already decided that you will be miserable, you study and do what miserable people do.

When you’ve already decided you are dependent on the vice, you study and do what other people dependent on the vice do.

When you’ve already decided you will shrink in a direction, you surround yourself and do what those who’ve shrunk in that direction do.

You show up at the same time, in the same way, often, to embrace that reality.

You never stop to consider your current opportunities, your blessings, or better possibilities. They don’t matter, because when you’ve already decided you will shrink— you do.
