Drive Around The Block.
You’ve been giving the best of you away all day. To clients, problems, deadlines, and the grind of building something meaningful.
But what happens when you walk through the front door?
In this short Maven Monday episode, Brandon shares a simple habit called “Drive Around the Block” A practical reset that helps small business owners create work-life balance, separate stress from home, and show up with real presence for the people who matter most.
This is about building healthy rhythms, protecting your family time, and creating more harmony between entrepreneurship and real life.
Because the big dream isn’t worth it if you lose yourself or your relationships along the way.
A reminder for every leader: sometimes the most powerful growth habit isn’t in your business…
…it’s in how you come home.

Welcome to the Maven Marketing Podcast. Today is Maven Monday. I’m your host Brandon Welch, and today it’s just me and you, and I have a question for you. Who is at home waiting for you to come back? Who is waiting for the best version of you to come back? Is it kids? Is it your partner? Is it a dog? Well, hopefully there’s somebody waiting at home for you. And I just want to share with you one of the most helpful things that I ever learned to do. You’ve been giving the best of you to all of your clients, to all of the problems, to all of the growth and all of the things you’re making happen in your company today. That is important. That is what makes the world go round. But just because you went and did that does not mean that the people who have been waiting to hear your stories, to hear what’s going on in your mind, to hear your connection with them feel authentic the moment you walk in the door. And so many of us, we come without any margin left in our day, and we come home tired, we come home disengaged, we come home stressed, and we don’t miss that magic moment when we can look them in the eye, when we can hug them, when we can say, How was your day and mean it? And I just want to suggest that you take a minute and disconnect from the world and the home that you’re going back to. I call that driving around the block. There’s about a mile loop around my house. And instead of pulling in the driveway and finishing my phone calls in the garage, I have learned drive around that loop, finish your day on that loop, disconnect, turn down the radio, take a deep breath, maybe pray. But I want you to visualize that moment you come back in the door. I want you to visualize what they deserve. What’s the version of you you want to give them? Drive around the block. And when you do that, the rest of your evening goes well. You have an authentic connection. You don’t wait that invisible, numb 30, 45, maybe two hours before you guys actually connect. You can start that connection there. And don’t you rest so much better? And doesn’t that prepare you so much better for the next day? And doesn’t that make the problems that cross over from home into work and from work into home? Doesn’t that separate that? And doesn’t that make life so much more balanced? I don’t think that there is a world where most of us live life and work completely separated, but you can make them harmonize better. And you just need to put a little bit of space between the rhythm of your work and the rhythm and that special moment that he or she or they deserve to see you in when you come home. They’ve been waiting for you. They’ve been counting on you. They’ve been looking forward to this moment. Don’t let them down. This has nothing to do with advertising or marketing. Most weeks on the Maven Marketing Podcast, we are helping you eliminate waste in your marketing equation so you can grow your business and we can achieve that big dream. But that big dream is only worth it if we do it with and for the people that really matter. And so I hope this helps you like it’s helped me. Take this into your week, take this into your evening, and drive around the block. We’ll be back here next week answering real life marketing questions because marketers who can’t teach you why are just a fancy lie. But until then, drive around the block.
