The Prayerful Loser
Once a man was asked, “What did you gain by regularly praying to God?”
The man replied, “Nothing…but let me tell you what I lost: Anger, ego, greed, depression, insecurity, and fear of death.”
Sometimes, the answer to our prayers is not gaining but losing; which ultimately is the gain
I did not write that story, and I couldn’t track down the original author.
But it has caused me to realize something:
I spend far more time focusing on what I’m gaining, than what I am losing.
Lately, the habit of prayer has helped me balance these two pursuits.
And I must say, I am far richer for what I have lost in recent months than what I have gained.
I owe it exclusively to a little ‘loser’ habit that I’ve picked up each morning:
Scheduled conversation with my creator.
I only have one question for you today.
Could it do the same for you?
You are an undeniable winner. You will always come out ahead. And I am really convinced that nothing could really stop you.
But I’m also growing more certain that it is really great to be a loser sometimes.
Care to join me?
Cheers,
BW
