In Frankly Friday

Can you remember all the way back to this time last year?

You were probably getting tense at the thought of how fast the holidays were coming on.

You were weary from a year of working harder than other years in recent memory.

If you were like me, your weeks had been long, your weekends were short, and your days were blurry.

You were irritated and tired. Maybe you had grown quite “prickly,” to even those you love the most.

And maybe, if you’re like me, not much changed in the following 365 days.

I found myself asking:

  1. Why does everyone feel so anxious right now?
  2. What am I missing?
  3. What should I do differently?

Not long ago, I received a very clear answer to those questions.

I’m going to say something that may sound strange to you, but I believe it’s important that I share some detail on this.

The answers came in a very unscheduled conversation with God.

It happened in a random parking lot on my route to work. Evidently, it was an overdue conversation, because it lasted two hours.

I understand if you think that’s weird. Trust me, I did too.

But I know for certain He wanted to share this with me:

  1. Anytime you feel anxious, you will know for sure that you are not following me, because I am not an anxious God.
  2. You are missing the life of peace, love, and joy I have created for you.
  3. You should try living in the good news.

I’m no holy roller.

I have no spiritual fairy dust to sprinkle.

And I don’t pretend to know your unique situation.

But I do know that the news from people around you likely hasn’t been good.

And I believe that you and I have a tremendous opportunity to flip the script by becoming the good news around them.

Hear me clearly; I’m not trying to inject you with toxic positivity.

I’m only suggesting that you remind yourself and the people on your path of what is true: there is far more to celebrate than to fear.

Test me on this.

Write down:

  • Every new person who has entered your life this year.
  • All of the customers who have trusted you with their time and money
  • The things you’ve learned that have made you wiser in life, work, health, relationships, parenthood, and professionalism.
  • The things you and your team have learned, that make you more valuable to the world
  • Your dear people who are still alive despite their age or shaky health
  • The people and places you shared a great meal with
  • All of the different ways you could choose to make more money
  • All of the people who showed up for you when you were up against a wall
  • The times you screwed it up and got a second chance.

Are you beginning to see the good news that has been around you all this time?

Couples, families, friends, and teams who celebrate together stay together.

But they need a leader.

They need a leader of good news. And I just wonder today… could that leader be you?

Give it some thought,

Cheers

BW
